This course explores key team management skills, covering different management models, team roles, and motivational theories. It examines the three team management approaches, Belbin’s team roles, Tuckman’s team development model, and key motivational theories from Maslow, Herzberg, Adams, and Vroom to help leaders effectively manage team performance.
This course describes how to manage team performance using different management models and by identifying the different roles and requirements in a team, as well as understanding motivational theory.
What are the team management skills a team leader requires to understand the three models of team management: command and control, engage and create and finally, economical incentive. The course reviews what kind of problems a team leader can encounter and the types of interactions which may occur.
The module looks at Belbin’s nine team roles model and describes each role in more detail and also considers the Tuckman model of team development.
Finally, the course reviews the four main motivational theories from Maslow, Herzberg, Adams and Vroom and how to use these to understand team behaviour.
